Community Built Playground

Projected Completion: Fall, 2008

Overview

Napa PlaystructureCity Park was donated by city founder John Frisbie for "the delight of women and children". Currently, though, the park does not offer much in the way of entertainment for our children. It is our goal to replace the small existing play structure with a creatively designed and community built playground.

Our inspiration for this park comes mainly from the work of Leathers and Associates. They have helped numerous local communities design and build truly wonderful play grounds. Examples of their work can be found in Benecia, Napa, Mill Valley, Vacaville and soon in Antioch and Concord.

Team

A committee has been formed to drive this project. Team members include representatives from the community, GVRD and City Staff.

We are looking for individuals who are interested in helping with community outreach and fundraising efforts. Would you like to volunteer?

Funding

Major funding for this project is being provided by the CDBG funds. A total of $75,000 has been allocated but our expectation is that we will need to run a community donation drive to raise sufficient funds. Estimates for the total cost are $100,000 - $125,000. Please contribute to help make this a reality!
