Landscape Improvements

Projected Completion: Ongoing

Overview

The park is a living, growing organism. And it needs to be tended. The Greater Vallejo Recreation District is responsible for maintenance in the park, but they do not have the budget to make the improvements that are needed. The community needs to take an active hand in shaping the park landscape.

The most pressing need that has been identified to date is removing the ivy along Sacramento and Alabama streets. This is threatening to overtake several trees including a very old, very uncommon "Bunya Bunya Pine".

Team

Sarah Nichols is the team lead. She has recently completed a survey of all the trees in the park with the help of Joe Bates.

She would like to encourage all individuals, as well as gardening groups, to join us in transforming the park landscape. Would you like to volunteer?

Planning for other improvements such as community flower gardens is currently underway.

Funding

Some improvements, including trimming healthy trees and removing dead and dying ones will be paid for by Community Development Block Grant funds. Other improvements may require additional funds. Interested in sponsorship?
